Capture the Color Contest 2013!

Capture the Color Contest is a photo contest held by Travel Supermarket in which bloggers post their favorite travel photos representing five colors: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and White. The winner of each color category and an overall winner will be selected by a panel of five travel and photography experts. The winners will also receive some awesome prizes including a travel fund of £3,000 to the overall winner! It’s such a neat idea, I decided to enter some of my own photos. After digging through my collection, here are my entries:

Red

U.S. Supreme Court, Washington D.C.

In addition to photography, I really enjoy history. On a recent trip to Washington D.C., I visited the U.S. Supreme Court. To me, especially as a law graduate, this picture represents a portal to both the past and the future of the United States; a place where decisions have had a significant influence on the formation of the U.S. and will continue to make a lasting impact. I could definitely feel energy resonating from such a historic courtroom.

Blue

Crater Lake National Park, Oregon

Lately, I’ve been traveling to a lot of national parks in the United States and Canada, because I love exploring the outdoors and photographing the parks. Out of all the places I’ve traveled too, I have yet to find bluer water than what I found at Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. I don’t think I’ll ever forget Crater’s Lake’s deep blue shade.

Green

Port Orford, Oregon

I love coastal areas, especially the coastline from Washington to Oregon, in part because it’s so green. There are a ton of beautiful and vast landscapes to photograph, but sometimes its fun to look for the little things hidden away too. On a trip to Port Orford, Oregon, I found what I was looking for; a little ladybug hanging out in the sun on bright green ferns.

Yellow

Hanalei Bay, Kauai

I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to head home from Hawaii, and not want to return immediately. The sunsets alone are worth staying indefinitely. Kauai is one of my favorite islands, and a great place to visit when I’m longing for some tropical sunshine.
White

Jungfraujoch, Switzerland

There are so many great places to explore at all levels. This photo is sort of a wildcard in terms of geographical location, but when it comes to “white” there really was nothing like standing on the “Top of Europe” and appreciating the snowy peaks.

The second part of the contest is to nominate five other bloggers to enter so here are my nominations:

1.  Danielle at TrekSnappy
2.  Cheryl and Sherie at Shutterbitten
3.  Kimmy at AfterGlobe
4.  Ed at The Polar Route
5.  Mary at CalculatedTraveller
